Why won’t my Mercedes-Benz S-Class start, and could a busted starter motor be the cause?

My Mercedes-Benz S-Class suddenly won’t start despite the battery being fully charged. I hear a clicking sound when I turn the key, but the engine doesn’t crank. Could this be a sign of a busted starter motor? What are the common causes of starter motor failure in this model, especially given the driving conditions and climate in Pakistan?
