ABS Sensor Fault – Brakes Feel Weak on Kia Grand Carnival 2020

My 2020 Grand Carnival is showing an ABS warning light on the dashboard. After that, I’ve noticed the brakes feel slightly weak o r not as responsive as before. A local workshop told me it could be a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor. Has anyone experienced this problem in Pakistan? Is it a common issue with Kia? Should I get all sensors checked o r just replace the faulty one? Also, where can I get genuine o r good quality aftermarket sensors?

An ABS warning light along with weak braking response is typically linked to a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor.

🔍 Common Causes in Pakistan:

Dust and Debris: Common on local roads, especially after monsoon o r rural travel.

Worn-out sensor wiring: Can happen due to poor roads o r improper maintenance.

Wheel hub issues: Sometimes the issue is not the sensor itself but a faulty wheel bearing o r tone ring.

🛠️ How to Diagnose and Fix:

Use an OBD2 ABS scanner to pinpoint which wheel sensor is faulty.

Check the sensor wiring and connector for damage o r corrosion.

Replace the faulty sensor — no need to change all four unless others are also failing.

💰 Estimated Cost in Pakistan:

ABS scan: PKR 2,000–3,000 special scanner needed

ABS sensor OEM o r reliable aftermarket: PKR 6,000–12,000

Labor: PKR 1,000–2,000

Important: Without a working ABS, your car’s braking system becomes basic and may not work well in emergencies o r on wet roads.
