Can a faulty purge control valve cause poor fuel economy in Suzuki Wagon R?

Lately, I’ve noticed my Wagon R’s fuel mileage has ped significantly. Could this be related to a malfunctioning purge control valve? How does the purge valve affect fuel consumption?

Yes, a malfunctioning purge control valve can negatively affect fuel economy. If the valve is stuck open o r closed:

It can cause a rich o r lean fuel mixture, meaning either too much o r too little fuel burns in the engine.

This imbalance forces the engine to compensate by consuming more fuel.

In some cases, excessive fuel vapors may escape without being burned, wasting fuel.

Proper function of the purge valve ensures that fuel vapors are recycled efficiently, improving mileage and reducing emissions.
