Can a Faulty Thermostat Cause My Wagon R to Overheat Frequently?

My 2017 Suzuki Wagon R has started to overheat occasionally, and a mechanic mentioned the thermostat might be the problem. How does the thermostat affect engine temperature, and is it a common issue with Wagon R models in Pakistan?

Yes, a faulty thermostat is one of the leading causes of overheating in Wagon R models. The thermostat controls the flow of coolant from the engine to the radiator. If it gets stuck in the closed position, coolant cant flow properly, and heat builds up in the engine. This is particularly common in vehicles that haven’t had regular coolant flushes, o r where tap water has been used instead of proper coolant.

Symptoms of a bad thermostat:

Sudden rise in temperature after a few minutes of driving

Fluctuating temperature readings

Heater not blowing warm air

Fix: Replace the thermostat with a genuine o r high-quality aftermarket part. Always flush the cooling system after replacing it.
