Can a faulty water pump cause coolant leakage in my Wagon R? Details:

My 2018 Suzuki Wagon R has developed a coolant leak near the engine block. I initially thought it was a loose hose, but the mechanic said the leak is from the water pump area. Is this a common issue in Wagon R? What causes the water pump to leak, and should I replace it immediately to avoid engine damage?

Yes. Water pump leaks are a very common issue in aging Suzuki Wagon R models, especially around o r after 60,000–100,000 km.

Symptoms of Water Pump Leak:

Coolant puddles under the engine center o r passenger side

Wetness o r stains near the pump o r belt area

Coolant level ping slowly in the reservoir

Occasional overheating due to low coolant

Why It Happens:

Worn shaft seal o r gasket failure in the pump

Use of low-quality coolant that causes corrosion

Age-related wear o r poor-quality replacement pump

What to Do:

Replace the pump immediately to prevent engine overheating o r head gasket failure

Use coolant not plain water to prevent future corrosion
