Can low tire pressure o r wrong tire size cause poor fuel average in Wagon R?

Can low tire pressure o r wrong tire size cause poor fuel average in Wagon R?

I recently upgraded my Suzuki Wagon R’s tires from stock 165/70 R13 to 175/70 R13 for better grip and road feel. Since then, I’ve noticed a in fuel efficiency. Also, sometimes I forget to maintain correct tire pressure. Could these two factors be the reason behind low mileage? If yes, what’s the ideal tire pressure and recommended tire size to balance fuel efficiency and comfort?

Yes, both low tire pressure and oversized tires can reduce fuel economy.

Wider tires like 175/70 R13 increase road resistance, which forces the engine to work harder.

Incorrect tire pressure causes increased rolling resistance and inefficient fuel use.

Ideal Tire Pressure & Size:

Stick to stock size: 165/70 R13 for best fuel efficiency

Maintain tire pressure at 30–32 PSI front/rear

Check pressure weekly, especially in summer

Tip: If you still prefer wider tires, keep them properly inflated and check alignment to reduce drag.
