Can Using Low-Quality Coolant Cause Overheating in a Wagon R?

Coolant is readily available in the local markets, but Ive been using cheaper brands. Lately, my Wagon R seems to overheat more frequently. Could poor-quality o r wrong type of coolant be the cause of this issue in Pakistani weather?

Yes, low-quality o r incorrect coolant is a major cause of overheating in Suzuki Wagon R vehicles. Many car owners in Pakistan opt for cheap o r water-diluted coolants that lack proper anti-boil and anti-corrosion properties. This leads to:

Rust o r scale formation inside the radiator and engine block

Inefficient heat transfer

Early water pump o r thermostat failure

Coolants sold without proper labeling o r those that are just colored water are especially harmful in Pakistan’s high-temperature conditions.

Recommendation:
Use a high-quality coolant preferably long-life o r pre-mixed types like Suzuki Genuine, Caltex Havoline, o r ZIC. Avoid mixing coolants o r using tap water. Always flush the system before changing coolant types.
