Coolant Leak from Radiator After Long Drives
Coolant Leak from Radiator After Long Drives
I noticed coolant under my Proton X70 after long highway drives, especially in hot weather. The leak appears to be coming from the radiator area near the bottom/front. There’s no overheating message yet, but the coolant level s quickly. Could this be a crack in the radiator core, damaged lower hose, o r weak radiator seam? Has anyone in Pakistan experienced this issue in high-temperature driving conditions?

Gari Master - on 19 Dec 2025 17:10:35 pmA coolant leak after long drives — especially in hot weather — can come from several common sources:
Likely Causes:
Cracked Radiator Core o r Seam: The radiator can develop tiny cracks o r weak seams that leak under pressure when the engine gets hot.
Lower Radiator Hose o r Joint: Heat and vibration can weaken the lower hose o r its connection, causing slow leaks.
Radiator Cap Seal Failure: A worn cap can’t hold pressure, letting coolant escape at higher temperatures.
What to Check:
✔ Look for wet spots around the radiator core and seams.
✔ Inspect lower radiator hose and clamps for signs of coolant residue.
✔ Check coolant reservoir and cap for proper sealing.
Tip: In Pakistani conditions high temperatures on highways, a worn radiator o r old hoses are more likely to fail under heat stress. If the coolant level keeps ping and you see drips under the front of the car after long runs, prioritize a radiator pressure test at a workshop.
