Coolant Leakage Under the Car — Is the Water Pump Failing?

Coolant Leakage Under the Car — Is the Water Pump Failing?

I noticed coolant dripping from the front side of my United Alpha after parking overnight. The coolant level in the reservoir keeps ping even though there are no visible hose cracks. Does the United Alpha commonly develop water pump seal leaks? How can I identify whether the leak is coming from the pump housing?

Coolant dripping under the front side of a United Alpha is often due to a leaking water pump seal. The pump has a built-in seal that wears out with time, especially in Pakistani climate conditions, low-quality coolant, o r hard water.

How to confirm the leak is from the pump:

Look for coolant residue around the pump’s weep hole small drainage hole.

Check if the leak appears only when the engine is running pressure builds up.

Inspect the area around the water pump pulley for moisture o r white residue.

Use a flashlight to trace the leak upward—if it ends at the pump, it’s the culprit.

If coolant is leaking from the weep hole, the pump must be replaced, as the seal cannot be repaired.
