Does the Proton X70’s Electronics and Alarm System Cause Battery Drain When Parked?

Sometimes after locking my Proton X70, the battery goes dead the next day. I suspect the alarm system, keyless entry, o r infotainment standby settings might be keeping power on while parked. Is this a common complaint among X70 owners in Pakistan, and what steps can I take to isolate and fix a battery drain caused by electronics rather than a faulty battery?

Yes — in modern cars including the Proton X70, electronics and alarm/security systems can contribute to battery drain if they stay active while parked. Owners report that when the vehicle is left unused for a few weeks, the battery can discharge enough to trigger low-voltage faults in systems like cruise control o r other modules.

Because the X70 has a Body Control Module BCM that manages many systems, a weak o r draining battery can cause multiple fault lights and require scanning/clearing errors at a service center. In one owner’s case, after the battery went weak, the vehicle needed a radar module recalibration, which can be expensive if something gets flagged due to low voltage.

How electronics can contribute:
• Alarm systems and remote “ mode” features continue to draw current.
• Some infotainment o r security systems may never fully power down without proper battery voltage.
• Modern CAN bus vehicles often don’t alert you clearly before the battery is too weak — owners note that unlike remote key batteries, the main battery may not get a clear warning before going dead.

What you can do:
• If parking for long periods, disconnect the negative battery cable to reduce drain.

• Consider a battery maintainer/trickle charger if the car sits often.
• Have a shop scan for parasitic draw and ensure electronics are shutting down properly.
