How often does the catalytic converter need cleaning in Wagon R given Pakistan’s road and fuel conditions?
I’ve owned my Wagon R for 3 years and never had the catalytic converter checked o r cleaned. With all the traffic, short-distance driving, and poor fuel in Pakistan, how frequently should the catalytic converter be cleaned? Is there a recommended schedule to prevent blockages o r performance issues?

In Pakistan, due to poor fuel quality, traffic congestion, and short trips, its advisable to inspect o r clean the catalytic converter every 30,000 to 40,000 km. Short city drives don’t allow the engine to reach optimal temperature, which leads to carbon buildup in the exhaust system and converter.
Maintenance tips:
Use fuel system cleaners every 5,000 to 10,000 km.
Perform a long highway drive at least 100 km at higher speeds every few weeks to keep the converter clean.
Regularly change engine oil, air filter, and spark plugs to prevent unburned fuel from entering the exhaust.
If you drive mostly in cities like Karachi, Lahore, o r Islamabad, consider getting the catalytic converter professionally inspected/cleaned once a year to prevent power loss o r complete blockage.
