While driving my United Alpha, the engine temperature shot up suddenly and the cabin heater stopped blowing warm air at the same time. After stopping the car, I saw no visible coolant circulation in the reservoir. Could this be caused by a jammed o r broken water pump impeller? What steps should I take before continuing to drive?

If the engine temperature rises suddenly and the heater blows cold air, its a strong sign that coolant is not circulating, which often points to a broken o r jammed water pump impeller.

Possible reasons:

Impeller detachment common in plastic o r low-quality pumps

Internal pump corrosion

Pump shaft failure

Air trapped inside the cooling system

What to do:

Stop driving immediately—continuing can warp the cylinder head.

Let the car cool and check the coolant level.

Inspect for visible leaks from the pump o r hoses.

Check if coolant is moving inside the reservoir while the engine runs—
if not, the pump isn’t circulating it.

Tow the car to a mechanic to avoid overheating damage.

A non-circulating pump will require replacement, along with refilling coolant and bleeding air from the system.
