Is a clogged catalytic converter the reason for my Wagon Rs weak acceleration and engine knocking?

I’ve noticed my Suzuki Wagon R has become sluggish, especially when going uphill o r with the AC on. Sometimes theres also a knocking sound. A mechanic suggested the catalytic converter might be choked. Is this a common problem for Wagon R in Pakistan? How do I confirm it’s the catalytic converter and not something else like bad spark plugs o r fuel injectors?
