Is it normal for Suzuki Wagon R battery to die within 1 year in Pakistan?

My Wagon R’s battery AGS brand died in less than a year, even though I drive almost daily. The car sometimes hesitates to start, especially in the morning. I use headlights, AC, and occasionally charge my phone while driving. Is this premature battery failure normal? Could it be due to alternator issues, low-quality batteries in Pakistan, o r short trips that dont allow full charging?

No, it’s not normal. A battery should last at least 2 to 3 years, even in Pakistani conditions.

Reasons for Early Battery Failure:

Short city trips that don’t allow the alternator to fully recharge the battery

Use of low-quality o r dry batteries common with AGS o r local brands

Electrical load from accessories like sound systems, HIDs, o r phone chargers

Weak alternator that’s not charging the battery properly

What You Can Do:

Use sealed maintenance-free SMF batteries like Phoenix o r Daewoo they last longer

Check alternator output using a multimeter. It should read 13.8–14.5V with the engine running.

Avoid frequent short trips take the car on longer drives weekly.

Tip: Local batteries often die early in hot summers—consider better brands and proper installation.
