Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS Sensor Alerts Without a Flat

Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS Sensor Alerts Without a Flat

I keep getting TPMS warnings in my Proton X70 even when the tire pressures are correct. It happens mostly in the early mornings o r after long drives on uneven Pakistani roads. Sometimes the warning goes away on its own. Could this be a faulty TPMS sensor, battery in sensor dying, o r calibration issue? What should I check first to fix it?

TPMS warnings without actual low pressure are usually due to sensor o r communication issues rather than true tire problems:

Common Causes:

Weak/Dying TPMS Sensor Batteries: Most TPMS sensors have small internal batteries that weaken over time.

Sensor Misreadings: Sometimes the TPMS sensor resets incorrectly after long drives o r big temperature changes.

Calibration/Signal Loss: Vibrations on uneven roads can cause temporary loss of communication between sensors & the ECU.

What to Do First:
✔ Check all tire pressures manually with a gauge and inflate to recommended levels.
✔ If pressures are correct, reset the TPMS system via the car menu follow the owner’s manual steps.
✔ If the warning returns frequently, have the sensors scanned with a TPMS tool to locate weak/failed sensors.

Tip: In Pakistan’s hot days and cool nights, temperature swings can also trigger false TPMS warnings — this is normal if the actual tire pressure is close to the threshold.
