Transmission Fluid Spots Under the Vehicle
Transmission Fluid Spots Under the Vehicle
Some Proton X70 owners in Pakistan have noticed reddish o r brown fluid spots forming under their SUV after parking, especially following long drives o r heavy traffic. Could these stains be transmission fluid leaks, how can owners distinguish them from engine oil o r coolant drips, and what steps should be taken to diagnose and fix the leak before it affects transmission performance?

Gari Master - on 19 Dec 2025 12:34:21 pmIf you see reddish, brown, o r oily spots under your Proton X70 after parking — especially after long drives — it could be a transmission fluid leak. Transmission fluid is typically reddish o r amber when new and darker as it ages.
How to tell it apart from other fluids:
Engine oil: usually dark brown o r black, thicker, and usually comes from the front of the car.
Coolant: often green, orange, o r pink, and feels more watery.
Transmission fluid: reddish to brown, slick, and usually located nearer the center o r side of the vehicle under the gearbox area.
What to do:
Check the transmission fluid level using the proper procedure engine warm, parked on level ground. Low levels support a leak suspicion.
Put a piece of cardboard under where you park to confirm where the drip originates.
Inspect common leak points such as the transmission pan gasket, oil cooler lines, o r output shaft seal.
Have a service centre inspect and repair the source as soon as possible — driving with low transmission fluid can quickly lead to expensive internal damage.
