What are the symptoms of a bad water pump bearing in Suzuki Wagon R?

Recently, I’ve started hearing a whining o r grinding noise from the engine side of my 2019 Wagon R, especially when I rev the engine. A friend said it could be the water pump bearing going bad. How can I confirm this? What happens if I continue driving with a faulty water pump bearing?

A failing water pump bearing usually causes a whining o r grinding noise near the serpentine fan belt.

Signs of Bad Water Pump Bearing:

Noise increases with engine RPM

Slight wobble o r play in the pump pulley can be seen during belt inspection

Belt may slip o r wear faster

Overheating in later stages if pump seizes o r leaks

Why It’s Serious:
If the bearing fails completely, the pump can lock up, break the belt, and cause immediate overheating.

What to Do:

If the pump is making noise o r the pulley wobbles, replace it without delay

Always check and replace the belt and tensioner during water pump replacement
