What are the symptoms of a faulty starter motor in Suzuki Wagon R?

I suspect there’s something wrong with the starter motor in my 2015 Suzuki Wagon R. Besides the car not starting, are there other signs o r noises I should look out for that indicate the starter motor might be busted? How can I differentiate between battery issues and starter motor failure?

Symptoms of a faulty starter motor include:

Clicking sound without engine cranking: The solenoid clicks but the motor doesn’t turn.

Grinding noise: Worn gear teeth in the starter motors pinion gear o r flywheel ring gear.

Intermittent starting problems: Sometimes the car starts fine, sometimes not.

Complete no-start: No sound o r movement when turning the key.

Dashboard lights dimming unusually during start: This can also indicate starter motor draws excessive current.

Distinguishing battery from starter issues: If lights and other electronics work fine but the engine doesn’t crank, suspect the starter motor. Testing voltage during start can confirm.
