What causes grinding o r squealing sounds in my Jeep Cherokee even after replacing the brake pads?

I recently replaced the front brake pads on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee at a local workshop in Islamabad. But after a few weeks, I’m hearing squealing o r grinding noises, especially when braking slowly. The mechanic said it’s fine, but it doesn’t sound normal. Could the problem be with the rotors, cheap brake pads, o r improper installation?

If youre hearing squealing o r grinding shortly after replacing pads, the issue may be due to:

🔍 Likely Reasons:

Low-grade brake pads with poor noise insulation.

Rotors were not resurfaced o r replaced, leading to uneven contact.

Missing o r damaged anti-rattle shims during installation.

Debris o r rust between pad and rotor.

Pads installed without proper lubrication on the contact points.

🛠 Fix It By:

Ensuring the rotors are smooth and not warped o r scored.

Using brake pad grease on the back side and sliding points of the pad.

Checking for OEM-spec pad sets that include shims and hardware.

Replacing o r resurfacing rotors if theyve been used over multiple pad changes.

✅ Note: Some squealing is normal in cold o r humid weather, but grinding usually means metal-on-metal contact — get it checked immediately.
