Why does my Jeep Cherokee’s rear window only work from the driver’s control panel but not from the rear door switch?

Why does my Jeep Cherokee’s rear window only work from the driver’s control panel but not from the rear door switch?

In my 2016 Jeep Cherokee, the rear left window only works when I use the driver’s master control, but not from the rear passenger door switch. Could it be a wiring issue o r a bad switch? Has anyone faced this in Pakistan, and what’s the fix?

This is typically a door switch o r wiring issue, and its common in older o r heavily used Cherokees.

🔍 Possible Causes:

Faulty rear door switch cheap to replace

Broken o r damaged wiring in the rubber boot between the door and body common from door movement

Window lock setting disabling individual controls

Corroded o r loose switch connector

🛠 Fix:

First, check if the child lock/window lock feature on the driver’s panel is enabled.

Test the rear switch separately using a known-good unit.

Inspect the wiring harness in the door hinge area—broken wires here are very common and hard to notice at first.

Clean any corroded contacts in the switch connector.

✅ Tip: Replacing a window switch is cheap and quick — but if wiring is broken, it’s best repaired by a technician familiar with Cherokee’s door harness routing.
