What causes my Wagon R door locks to make clicking sounds but not lock properly?

When I press the lock/unlock button on my 2018 Wagon R, I hear a clicking sound, but the doors don’t actually lock o r unlock. It happens intermittently on different doors. What could be causing this? Is the actuator weak o r is there a voltage supply issue?

A clicking sound with no actual lock/unlock movement usually indicates:

Weak actuator motor: The actuator may receive power but lacks the strength to move the lock mechanism fully.

Low battery voltage: If your car’s battery is weak o r alternator isn’t charging properly, the actuators may not get enough power.

Internal gear wear: Inside the actuator, plastic gears can wear out, causing movement noise without real action.

Dirty o r stuck lock mechanism: Dirt o r corrosion in the locking rods o r latches can block smooth operation.

Fix: Clean and lubricate the door latch and locking rods. If that doesn’t help, the actuator may need to be replaced. Also check the battery voltage should be ~12.6V with car off and ~13.8–14.5V when running.
