What causes rust to appear around the wheel arches and door sills of the Wagon R?

Rust formation is often seen in specific areas of the Wagon R’s bodywork. Are there known design flaws o r drainage issues contributing to this? What anti-rust treatments are recommended?

Rust commonly forms in these areas due to:

Water accumulation and poor drainage design in the wheel wells and door bottoms.

Salt exposure in cold regions where roads are salted during winter.

Thin protective coatings and insufficient underbody treatment.

Solution/Prevention:

Inspect the car regularly and clean mud and debris from wheel wells.

Apply underbody anti-rust coating and seal drain holes properly.

Treat early rust spots with rust converter and touch-up paint.

In regions with heavy snowfall, wash the underbody weekly during winter.
