What causes squeaking o r squealing noise from brakes in my Wagon R?

There’s a high-pitched squealing sound when I brake, especially at low speeds. The car still stops fine. I changed the brake pads recently on my 2018 Wagon R. Is this normal, o r could the pads o r rotors be the problem?

Brake noise is common, especially after pad replacement, and could be caused by:

Brake pad material: Some semi-metallic o r ceramic pads naturally squeal more than others.

Improper installation: Missing anti-squeal shims o r dry contact points between pad and caliper.

Glazed pads o r rotors: Excessive heat can cause a smooth, hardened surface that creates noise.

Dust o r debris: Road grime caught between the pad and disc can cause temporary squealing.

Fix:

Apply brake grease to the back of the pads and contact points.

Inspect for glazing—if present, resurface o r replace the rotors and pads.

Make sure shims and clips are installed correctly.
