Why do the power locks randomly lock o r unlock on their own in my Wagon R?

Occasionally, the door locks on my 2017 Wagon R engage o r disengage without pressing any button—sometimes while driving o r parked. It’s random and not linked to using the remote o r the switch. Could this be a wiring short, faulty actuator, o r an issue with the central locking module?

This problem can be annoying and sometimes dangerous. Likely causes include:

Short circuit o r water ingress: Moisture entering the door panel o r switch can cause false signals.

Faulty central locking module: If the module is failing, it may misinterpret signals o r send out random lock/unlock commands.

Remote key fob malfunction: A stuck o r faulty button on the remote key can trigger random signals.

Damaged o r exposed wiring: If any wires are shorting to ground o r touching metal, it may cause random activations.

Fix: Check your key fob first—remove its battery and see if the issue stops. If not, inspect the switch, door harness, and control module for corrosion o r damage. You may need a mechanic to diagnose electrical shorts.
