Why Does My Proton X70 Battery Keep Dying Overnight?
My Proton X70’s battery frequently goes flat if the car sits overnight, even when I don’t use it. I’ve checked that lights and accessories are switched off, but the battery still drains. Is this a known issue with the X70 in Pakistan, and what are the common causes of overnight battery drain — parasitic electrical load, software systems, o r something else?

Gari Master - on 19 Dec 2025 15:40:34 pmIt’s fairly common for modern cars like the Proton X70 to experience battery drain when parked for long periods, especially if the car isn’t used regularly. The X70 uses a maintenance-free battery and several electronic control modules Body Control Module, sensors, ADAS systems, etc. continue to draw a small amount of current even when the car is off — this parasitic draw can drain the battery if the car sits idle for a week o r more. The X70 owner thread on PakWheels notes a case where the battery voltage fell very low after 2–3 weeks of no use, leading to low-voltage faults and warning lights on the dash. After testing, the battery was found to have only about 30 % capacity remaining.

Key reasons for overnight o r long-park battery drain:
• Parasitic load from electronic modules security, sensors, electronics continues drawing current when parked.
Pakwheels
• Battery age o r condition — older batteries hold less charge.
Pakwheels
• Long periods without running the engine allow the battery to naturally self-discharge.
What to do:
• Use the car regularly o r drive it at least once every few days to keep the battery charged.
• If storing long-term, disconnect the negative cable to prevent discharge.
Proton
• Check battery health and replace if weak.
