Why Does My Suzuki Wagon R Overheat in Traffic Even with the A/C Off?
I’ve noticed that my Wagon R starts to overheat when I’m stuck in traffic, especially during the daytime. The air conditioning is turned off, yet the temperature needle rises rapidly. What could be causing this overheating in idle o r low-speed conditions?

Overheating in traffic is a common problem in the Suzuki Wagon R, especially in Pakistan’s hot climate. This usually happens due to insufficient airflow through the radiator at low speeds. When the car is moving slowly o r idling, it relies on the radiator fan to cool the engine. If the fan is weak, faulty, o r not turning on, the engine will overheat. Another cause could be a clogged radiator o r poor coolant circulation. In addition, engine load increases due to accessories o r a failing water pump can also lead to this issue.
What to check:
Radiator fan operation especially if it turns on when the engine gets hot
Radiator cleanliness internally and externally
Coolant quality and level
Water pump function
