Why does my Suzuki Wagon R suddenly stop moving even though the engine is running?

If the car doesn’t move in any gear but the engine is on, it may point to a serious transmission issue. What are the possible causes—like internal clutch failure, broken gear linkage, o r electronic faults—and how should they be diagnosed?

If the engine is running but the car won’t move when placed in gear, it may indicate a critical transmission fault. Common causes include:

Broken o r worn-out clutch manual models – Engine runs, but no power is delivered to the wheels.

Failed AMT actuator o r clutch motor AGS model – The electronic gear-shifting system fails to engage gears.

Broken shifter cable o r linkage – The gear lever moves, but nothing engages inside the transmission.

Low o r empty transmission fluid – Especially after a leak, which leads to loss of hydraulic pressure.

Failed torque converter automatic – Prevents power from reaching the drivetrain.

Fix: A workshop diagnostic using an OBD-II scanner and visual inspection is necessary to confirm the cause.
