Why does one side of my Wagon R’s brake pads wear faster than the other?

I recently checked the front brake pads on my 2017 Wagon R and found that the left side was more worn than the right. What could be causing uneven brake pad wear—stuck caliper, brake hose problem, o r installation issue?

Uneven pad wear is a common issue and usually points to mechanical imbalance:

Sticking brake caliper piston: If one side doesn’t release properly, it causes that pad to wear out faster.

Frozen slide pins: If pins on one side are jammed, the pads don’t apply pressure evenly.

Brake hose collapse: Internally damaged hoses can act like a one-way valve, keeping pressure on one caliper.

Improper installation: Uneven torque on caliper bolts o r poor pad seating can lead to this.

Fix:

Inspect and clean slide pins and lubricate them with high-temp grease.

Test caliper piston movement—if stuck, a rebuild o r replacement is needed.

Replace old o r damaged brake hoses.
