Why does the Suzuki Wagon R give lower fuel average in city traffic compared to claimed mileage?

Why does the Suzuki Wagon R give lower fuel average in city traffic compared to claimed mileage?

Many Pakistani users report getting only 10–13 km/l in city traffic, even though the manufacturer claims 18–20 km/l. What causes this in mileage in stop-and-go conditions, and is it due to driving habits, fuel quality, o r mechanical issues?

Suzuki claims 18–20 km/l for the Wagon R, but most Pakistani users report 10–13 km/l in urban conditions. This gap is caused by:

Stop-and-go traffic: Frequent braking and idling in cities like Lahore o r Karachi reduce fuel efficiency.

Short trips: The engine doesn’t reach optimal temperature on short drives, using more fuel.

Driving habits: Aggressive acceleration, heavy braking, and overuse of AC contribute to higher fuel consumption.

Traffic congestion: Idling in long traffic jams means the engine is running but not covering distance, lowering km/l.

Tip: Maintain steady speed, avoid harsh acceleration, and get regular tune-ups to improve mileage.
