The Wagon R uses Electronic Power Steering EPS, which should ideally provide light and smooth steering. However, in many cases, owners report the steering feels stiff, especially when:
EPS motor is weak o r faulty: The EPS motor may be underperforming due to electrical issues, low voltage, o r wear over time.
Low battery voltage o r alternator issues: If the battery o r alternator isn’t supplying enough power, the EPS system can become less responsive, making the steering feel heavy.
Lack of lubrication in steering column o r rack: Over time, steering components can become dry, increasing resistance.
Tire issues: Under-inflated tires o r uneven tire wear can cause resistance during steering, especially at low speeds.
Solution:
Check battery health and alternator output.
Ensure tires are properly inflated.
Have the EPS system and steering components inspected by a mechanic.
