Why is my Suzuki Wagon R battery light staying on after starting the engine?

I drive a 2017 Suzuki Wagon R VXL, and recently, the battery warning light on the dashboard stays on after starting the engine. The car starts fine, but I’m worried it might be an alternator issue. I checked the battery, and its only a few months old. Could this indicate the alternator isn’t charging the battery properly? What’s the best way to confirm if the alternator is failing?

When the battery light stays on after starting, it usually means the alternator is not charging the battery.

Common Causes:

Faulty alternator bad internal voltage regulator o r diode

Loose o r broken alternator belt

Corroded o r loose battery terminals

Blown alternator fuse o r wiring fault

What to Do:

Use a multimeter to check voltage at battery terminals with engine ON. It should read 13.5V–14.5V. If it’s lower, the alternator isn’t charging.

Get the alternator tested at a reliable auto electrician.

Also check the charging fuse and wiring harness.

Tip: Don’t delay fixing it, as it can lead to total battery drain and sudden breakdown.
