Why is my Suzuki Wagon R overheating even though the radiator and thermostat are fine?
I’ve recently cleaned the radiator and replaced the thermostat in my 2017 Wagon R, but the engine still overheats, especially during long drives o r with the AC on. A mechanic suggested it could be a weak water pump. How do I confirm if the water pump is the problem? What are the signs of a failing water pump in the Wagon R?

If your radiator is clean and thermostat is working, yet the engine is overheating, a failing water pump is likely the cause.
Why?
The water pump’s job is to circulate coolant through the engine. If it becomes weak o r fails internally:
Coolant flow becomes slow o r inconsistent
Engine temperature rises under load e.g., long drives o r AC use
Overheating may only occur after 10–15 minutes of driving
How to Confirm:
Open the radiator cap when engine is cold, start the engine, and observe coolant flow. Weak o r no flow = pump issue.
Look for coolant leakage under the water pump housing o r engine block.
Listen for grinding o r squealing noises from the pump area.
What to Do:
Replace the water pump with OEM o r Japanese brand avoid cheap local parts.
Flush the cooling system when replacing to remove any rust o r debris.
