Why is my Wagon R’s check engine light on after a long drive – could it be the catalytic converter?
My 2019 Suzuki Wagon R’s check engine light came on after a long trip on the motorway. The car still runs, but feels a bit underpowered. I’ve heard this could be related to a faulty o r blocked catalytic converter. How can I scan for this issue at home o r confirm it through a workshop in Pakistan? Any recommended OBD scanners o r apps?

Yes, it’s possible the check engine light CEL after a long drive is related to the catalytic converter, especially if the car feels underpowered o r if theres a fuel smell. Long-distance driving at high speeds can stress a weak converter, triggering the CEL.
Here’s what to do:
Use an OBD-II scanner available online in Pakistan for under Rs. 3000 o r visit a workshop to check for codes like P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold.
If P0420 appears, it likely means the converter is not cleaning the exhaust gases efficiently.
Possible causes:
Clogged catalytic converter
Faulty O2 sensors
Rich fuel mixture o r oil entering the exhaust system
If it’s a temporary CEL, it may go away. But repeated warnings require inspection.
