Why is the Suzuki Swift’s fuel average lower than expected in city driving?

Many Swift users in Pakistan report fuel averages between 10–13 km/l in city traffic, which is much lower than the company’s claimed figures. I want to know what causes this —could it be due to engine tuning, stop-and-go traffic, o r the car’s weight-to-engine ratio? Is this a consistent issue across all variants?

The Suzuki Swift’s real-world fuel average in Pakistani cities often ranges between 10–13 km/l, which is lower than the manufacturer’s claim around 14–16 km/l. This is mainly due to:

Heavy stop-and-go traffic in cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.

Frequent idling and braking, especially during rush hours.

Drivers often using the AC, which increases load on the engine.

Use of low-quality fuel o r inconsistent fuel supply from local stations.

Short city trips where the engine doesn’t reach optimal efficiency.

These are common factors in urban Pakistan that significantly reduce actual mileage.
