Why is there noise o r clicking sound when turning the steering wheel in the Suzuki Wagon R?

Some drivers report clicking, popping, o r knocking sounds from the front when turning the steering wheel. Is this caused by a problem in the steering column, suspension, CV joints, o r bushings? How serious is this issue and what should be checked first?

Clicking o r popping sounds when turning can originate from several components:

CV joints constant velocity joints: Worn o r damaged CV joints produce clicking sounds, especially during full turns.

Steering column bushings o r universal joints: Worn bushings o r U-joints in the steering shaft can cause clunking o r clicking.

Suspension parts: Components like the strut mounts, ball joints, o r tie rods may be worn, leading to noises when steering.

Solution:

Have a mechanic check the CV joints first especially if the noise occurs only on sharp turns.

Inspect the steering shaft, rack, and suspension components for wear o r looseness.

Grease o r replace bushings if dry o r cracked.
