Why is there red o r brown fluid leaking under my Suzuki Wagon R?

If you notice red o r brown fluid under your Wagon R, its likely a transmission fluid leak. What are the most common places this leak can occur e.g., oil pan, seals, lines, and how do you identify whether its from the transmission o r another source?

Red o r brown fluid leaking from under your vehicle is a strong indicator of a transmission fluid leak. In the Wagon R, common leak sources include:

Transmission oil pan gasket – A damaged o r old gasket can allow fluid to seep out.

Transmission cooler lines – Cracked o r loose hoses can leak fluid, especially near connectors.

Drain plug o r pan bolts – These may loosen over time o r if not torqued properly during service.

Input o r output shaft seals – These can dry out and crack, especially in older vehicles.

Check: Clean the area and monitor where the fluid is dripping from. Transmission fluid is typically reddish when new, and turns brown with age.

Note: If the fluid smells burnt o r appears dark brown/black, it could also indicate overheating o r internal transmission wear.
