Islamabad Govt Introduces E-Tags For All Motorcycles

The federal government has announced the extension of Islamabad Motorcycle E-Tags as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance digital vehicle monitoring in the capital. This latest initiative under the Islamabad E-Tags Program aims to strengthen traffic management, improve law enforcement, and boost overall city security.

Real-Time Tracking and Enhanced Surveillance
The new system uses Motorcycle RFID Islamabad technology, allowing authorities to track tagged motorcycles in real time. Motorcycle Tracking Islamabad will be supported through strategically installed RFID readers at major roads and checkpoints across the city. Officials say this step is crucial to closing surveillance gaps and ensuring better traffic discipline.

Safe City Islamabad Leads the Initiative
The project is being managed by Islamabad Safe City E-Tags in collaboration with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the Islamabad Police. This partnership ensures the operational efficiency of the system and guarantees that every motorcycle can be monitored effectively under the Digital E-Tags Islamabad framework.

Streamlined Registration and Issuance
To facilitate Motorcycle E-Tag Registration Islamabad, multiple issuance centres and booths have been established across Islamabad. These centers handle both M Tags and E Tags, allowing vehicle owners to register their motorcycles efficiently. FWO provides the technical infrastructure and operational support for all centres, ensuring smooth deployment of the system.

Integration With Government Departments
The E-Tag System Pakistan has been integrated with the Excise and Taxation Department of Islamabad. This allows secure, encrypted sharing of vehicle data, enhancing verification processes and supporting law enforcement efforts. Authorities believe this integration will significantly improve traffic compliance and vehicle monitoring throughout the capital.

Progress and Future Plans
The installation drive for electronic tags began on November 14, 2025. By December 7, 2025, over 63,000 vehicles had already been equipped with E Tags. With the inclusion of motorcycles, the system will cover a wider segment of road users, contributing to safer streets and more effective traffic management.

Officials emphasized that the introduction of Two-Wheeler E-Tags in Islamabad is a strategic move to reinforce citywide security and modernize traffic monitoring, marking a significant step forward in the country’s digital vehicle surveillance initiatives.
