Islamabad–Rawalpindi Rail Service Date Officially Announce
The federal government has officially advanced with the Islamabad Rawalpindi Rail Project, designed to provide residents of the twin cities with a faster, cheaper, and more reliable mode of travel. The new Islamabad Rawalpindi Rail Service will not only cut down daily commute time but also ease road traffic congestion and offer an affordable option for passengers traveling between the two cities.
According to officials, the highly anticipated Islamabad Rawalpindi Train Launch Date has been set for March 23. Initially, the service will run on the existing railway track, connecting Margalla Railway Station in Islamabad to Saddar Railway Station in Rawalpindi. This modern train link will allow commuters to complete their journey in just 20 minutes, making it one of the most efficient transport options in the region.
The decision was finalized in a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters. Also present were Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, senior officials from Pakistan Railways, the CDA, the Rawalpindi Commissioner’s Office, and law enforcement agencies.
Railway Minister Abbasi revealed that the project will deploy Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs), likely to be imported from China or another country, ensuring modern facilities for passengers. The procurement process is expected to take about a month, and the formal PC-I will soon be submitted to the Planning Division. Once operational, commuters will benefit from an efficient Islamabad Rawalpindi Rail Service Schedule that integrates with other transport systems.
To enhance connectivity, CDA’s electric buses will work as feeder services to Margalla Station, while the existing Metro bus network will also be linked with the new rail system. Ticket fares are expected to remain affordable, giving travelers a low-cost option compared to other transport modes. Details regarding the Islamabad Rawalpindi Train Ticket Price, Islamabad Rawalpindi Rail Route Map, and Islamabad Rawalpindi Train Timing will be released closer to the launch date.
Under the proposed framework, Pakistan Railways will provide and maintain the railway infrastructure, while the CDA will manage daily operations. A formal agreement between the two authorities is expected to be signed next week. This much-awaited development marks a milestone for Pakistan’s transportation sector, and citizens are eagerly awaiting further Islamabad Rawalpindi Train Service Latest News and Islamabad Rawalpindi Rail Service Updates in the coming days.
