Locally Assembled Tank 500 and Canon Alpha PHEVs Incoming

Earlier in April, we reported that Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) was preparing to unveil two exciting additions to the Pakistani automotive market — the Tank 500 PHEV and the Canon Alpha PHEV. Now, the company has made it official, announcing the local assembly and expected launch timeline of these highly anticipated plug-in hybrid SUVs and pickups.

According to SAZEW’s latest update, the company will roll out CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units of the Tank 500 Hi4-T 4×4 2.0L Turbo AT PHEV SUV and the Canon Alpha Hi4-T 4×4 2.0L Turbo AT PHEV pickup truck. The first batch of locally assembled SUVs is expected before March 31, 2026 — marking a significant milestone for PHEV cars in Pakistan.

Although exact local features are yet to be unveiled, insights from the international market help us understand what the locally assembled variants might offer. The Tank Canon Pakistan project is gaining traction, with both models expected to make waves among new SUVs in Pakistan.
