New Name Patented by Toyota for Upcoming SUV

New Name Patented by Toyota for Upcoming SUV
Following the global introduction of the 2024 Land Cruiser 250, the successor to the Prado, Toyota has provided a sneak peek at two upcoming SUVs. One of these bears resemblance to the Compact Cruiser EV, while the other exhibits similarities to the larger Harrier model.
Despite the iconic "Land Cruiser" name, attention has gravitated more towards the angular SUV, overshadowing the sleeker, yet unassuming crossover design. The rumor mill has been abuzz with speculation, hinting that these two SUVs might be electrified versions of the Land Cruiser. However, no official confirmation has been provided at this juncture.
In an intriguing move, Toyota has recently secured a patent for the name "Land Hopper" with the Japan Patent Office. This development implies that neither of the forthcoming SUVs will bear the title of Land Cruiser, potentially reserving the name for an entirely different model.
According to a report from Filipino automotive publication Auto Industrial, Toyota seems to be in the process of crafting an SUV tailored for emerging markets, filling the gap between the Corolla Cross and the Fortuner. Citing insider information, the report reveals that Thailand is slated to manufacture the 'Baby Fortuner,' known internally as the 500D model, expected to roll out between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.
As it stands, the trademark for the name Land Hopper has exclusively been registered in Japan, possibly signifying a limited scope for its use. Toyota is currently maintaining a shroud of secrecy around this development, but it's anticipated that more details about the Land Hopper will emerge in the near future.
