Pakistan Railways Implements 5% Freight Rate Hike
Pakistan Railways has officially announced a 5 percent across-the-board increase in all freight rates, scheduled to take effect from 12 AM on September 2, 2023.
In accordance with a communication from Pakistan Railways, this freight rate adjustment will be applicable to all categories of goods traffic, and the total freight will be rounded off in the customary manner. However, it's important to note that this rate increase will not be applied to Cargo Express 501Up / 502 Dn and 503-Up/504-Dn.
To ensure compliance, traffic inspectors and relevant officials have been instructed to oversee the strict adherence to these guidelines at all railway stations.
Furthermore, a revised goods rates table is currently under preparation. This table will provide a breakdown of the calculated rates per ton for distances of up to 5,000 kilometers. Copies of this table will be distributed to all stations open for goods traffic booking, facilitated by the Divisional Superintendents.
