Punjab Increases Vehicle and Bike Transfer Charges

In a recent development, the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has officially increased the Punjab transfer fee for both motorcycles and Cars. According to City42, the revised charges reflect a 10% hike and are now applicable across all vehicle categories under the new fee schedule.

Motorcycle Transfer Fee Update
The bike transfer fee in Punjab has seen a modest increase. The motorcycle transfer fee has gone up by Rs 55, rising from Rs 550 to Rs 605. This change affects thousands of bike owners who rely on affordable Punjab bike registration and transfer processes in the province.

Updated Charges for Car Transfers
A significant jump in vehicle transfer charges has also been recorded for cars, with the increases categorized by engine capacity:

  • Cars between 650cc and 1000cc now face a Rs 275 increase. The new fee is Rs 3,025, affecting those most sensitive to Punjab car transfer cost adjustments.
  • Vehicles from 1000cc to 1800cc have experienced a Rs 550 hike, bringing the updated cost to Rs 6,050. This applies to mid-range sedans and compact SUVs.
  • For cars exceeding 1800cc, the Punjab vehicle ownership fee has risen by Rs 1,100, with a total new fee of Rs 12,100 — one of the steepest increases among all categories.

Heavy Vehicle Fee Adjustments

In the commercial category, Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTV) are also impacted. These vehicles now have a Rs 550 increase in transfer charges, pushing the fee from Rs 5,500 to Rs 6,050. This adds to the growing list of Punjab registration charges that transport companies must now factor into their costs.

New Fee Structure in Effect
The updated car transfer rates in Punjab and motorcycle fees are now active and fully implemented. Officials from the Excise Department confirmed that all regional offices have begun processing applications under the new vehicle and bike transfer fee Punjab structure. The government maintains that the increase is in line with rising administrative costs and inflation.
