Punjab Launches Crackdown on E-Challan Defaulters

In a significant development, the Punjab Traffic Police has launched a province-wide campaign targeting E-Challan defaulters. Previously limited to Lahore, this E-Challan recovery drive now spans the entire Punjab, intensifying the crackdown on individuals who have failed to clear their traffic fines.

According to Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer, Dr. Athar Waheed, the new initiative empowers all traffic police and highway officers across Punjab to stop vehicles and check their E-Challan status in real-time. A dedicated mobile app is being used to identify vehicles with outstanding challans, allowing officers to collect Punjab traffic fines instantly on the spot.

This action, part of a broader traffic fine crackdown, marks a notable upgrade from the previous system where only specialized teams in Lahore could enforce such penalties. Now, every traffic warden and highway official in Punjab can actively participate in E-Challan enforcement Punjab, creating a more effective system of accountability.

Impressive Results from the Crackdown
The results are already visible. In May, over 37,000 violators paid their dues, contributing Rs. 22.6 million to the exchequer. By June, the figures surged, with 129,000 individuals settling their fines—totaling Rs. 86 million. In just two months, the E-Challan Punjab campaign has recovered a total of Rs. 108.6 million, according to the latest E-Challan news update.

Cars owners are urged to settle their dues to avoid on-the-spot penalties and impounding. To check your E-Challan Punjab record, visit https://echallan.psca.gop.pk and enter your vehicle number and CNIC or chassis number. Clearing your dues not only avoids further penalties but also contributes to a safer traffic violation Punjab environment.

Lahore Targets Fake and Fancy Number Plates
In a parallel initiative, Punjab police action is also underway in Lahore against fake, fancy, and unauthorized vehicle number plates. Starting last month, the Lahore City Traffic Police initiated strict measures, including filing FIRs against offenders using non-standard plates to evade e-challan penalties.

A three-day grace period led by Dr. Athar Waheed gave citizens a chance to comply voluntarily. After the deadline, both vehicle owners and illegal plate manufacturers faced legal consequences. Tampering with official vehicle identification is now being treated as a criminal offense, further strengthening the Punjab E-Challan system.

These ongoing efforts reflect a determined push by Punjab authorities to tighten enforcement and ensure compliance across the board.
