Relaxation Announced for Unregistered Car Owners

In view of Muharram and to reduce public inconvenience, the Karachi traffic police have introduced a vehicle registration relaxation by temporarily suspending their ongoing crackdown on unregistered vehicles operating without official number plates issued by the Excise Department.

According to an official spokesperson, this step is part of a broader government vehicle relief measure, giving the public a chance to comply with the law. The crackdown has been put on hold until July 15, particularly around Ashura, to provide car owners relaxation and enough time to complete the   scheme.

This temporary car registration amnesty is aimed at encouraging citizens to use this opportunity wisely. Authorities have advised vehicle owners to promptly update their vehicle documentation and get their excise-approved number plates issued before the car registration deadline.

Officials stressed that this is not a permanent exemption. The unregistered vehicle update drive will resume immediately after the set date, and strict action will be taken against vehicles found without proper documentation or number plates.

Citizens are urged to take advantage of this unregistered car relief and complete the necessary procedures to avoid penalties. The move is seen as a positive step toward public convenience while maintaining law enforcement, with a clear focus on registration policy change and car tax relief in a phased and considerate manner.
