Revised Toll Tax Approved for M2 Islamabad–Lahore Motorway

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has officially revised the toll fees for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2). These updated rates will be implemented starting August 26, 2025, and will stay in effect until August 25, 2026.

This Motorway Toll Increase aligns with the 10% annual hike outlined in the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement signed on April 23, 2014, between NHA and Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The toll update aims to support continuous infrastructure development and road maintenance on the M-2.

M2 New Toll Rates 2025 for Light and Medium Vehicles
Under the revised M2 Motorway Toll structure, the new charges for various vehicle classes are as follows:

Cars , Jeeps, and Taxis (Class 1): Rs. 1,330 (Rs. 3.72 per km)
Wagons (Class 2): Rs. 2,240 (Rs. 6.24 per km)
Buses (Class 3): Rs. 3,130 (Rs. 8.73 per km)

These new M2 New Toll Rates 2025 aim to balance affordability for daily commuters while ensuring sufficient revenue for road upkeep.

Motorway M2 Toll Charges for Heavy Vehicles
For commercial and heavy transport vehicles, the updated Motorway M2 Toll Charges are:

  • 2-Axle Trucks (Class 4): Rs. 4,020 (Rs. 11.25 per km)
  • 3-Axle Trucks (Class 5): Rs. 5,800 (Rs. 16.20 per km)
  • 6-Axle Articulated Trucks (Class 6): Rs. 7,460 (Rs. 20.83 per km)

This substantial Lahore Islamabad Toll Increase for heavier vehicles reflects both inflationary adjustments and increased usage wear on the roads.

Motorway Toll Increase for Long-Term Development
The Motorway M2 Toll Hike is part of a long-term 20-year strategy to enhance and modernize the motorway infrastructure across Pakistan. This annual toll revision ensures that quality, safety, and sustainability remain top priorities on the country’s busiest intercity route.
