Vehicle Registration and Transfer Fee Hike in Punjab

The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has confirmed that the Punjab Vehicle Fee for registration and transfer will increase starting September 1. Citizens are advised to complete their Punjab Car Registration and Car Ownership Transfer processes on time to avoid paying higher charges.

As part of this initiative, the department is rolling out a new digital registration system. This smart setup will directly connect each vehicle’s number plate with the owner’s computerized national identity card (CNIC), ensuring better transparency and efficiency in the process of Car Registration Punjab.

Under the revised system, sellers will be able to keep their old number plates, while buyers of used vehicles will be issued new registration numbers by the Motor Registering Authority. Additionally, any Punjab Vehicle Tax numbers not currently in use can be reserved for up to two years, according to the latest Excise Punjab Update.

Authorities have also warned that delaying the transfer process will attract penalties. A one-month delay in Vehicle Transfer Charges will lead to extra mandatory fees, further increasing the burden on vehicle owners.

The Excise Department has urged those who have sold their cars but whose buyers have not completed the Punjab Transfer Fee process to report the issue by contacting the official helpline 1035. In such cases, registrations may be suspended to prevent any possible misuse, ensuring that the Punjab Excise Fees system remains secure and effective.
