Auto Sector Looks for Non Filers Issue

The Commissioner of Inland Revenue said that he has not given the consent on the non filers to buy the cars under 1000cc. The Director of Excise and Taxation issued the letter to purchase the vehicles below 1000cc, which is against the law and now this matter is under consideration.



The Government of Pakistan barred the non filers to buy the vehicles in the budget 2018-19. The Director of Excise and Taxation, Region C Lahore sent the directives to the officers and stated that there is no compulsion on the people to buy the vehicles under 1000 cc. He also said that he met with the commissioner of Income Tax Lahore in this regard.



It was reported that the government might give the relaxation to people, who wanted to by the cars below 1000 cc engine capacity. The Commissioner Inland Revenue in Lahore confirmed that the letter is being issued by the excise department, which is against the law and it is not backed by the Federal Board of Revenue FBR. It is important to mention that after Federal Finance Act 2018, one cannot buy o r book the local produced o r imported car but the filer can do it.
