Cultus Shifted to Mini Category by Uber in Pakistan
Uber is the service provider in Pakistan to give the comfortable traveling services on the reasonable rate of fare. Uber has shifted the vehicle, Cultus to the mini category. Thousands of the Uber drivers are furious with the company for the downgrading of their vehicle from Go category to Mini category. The company has exempted the 2017 model from this decision of downgrading of the vehicle. Cultus Shifted to Mini Category by Uber in Pakistan.
The drivers said that due to this decision, their income is lowered and the downgrading of the vehicles was conveyed to drivers through the message last week.
Lower Earnings
A 61 years old driver said that he has completed over 3000 rides in over 14 months and he earned decent amount but he saw that the earning was lowered down last week. He earned Rs.1600 even on the slow days but now he is earning maximum Rs.900. he has to cover minimum distance to get the Mini ride is 5 to 6 km while on Go, he has the rides within the distance of 3 km, which means more fuel consumption. He called new policy of Uber ‘unjustified’.
Stance of Uber
The spokesperson of Uber said that they were meeting the base of the customers and after the feedback, they decided to enlarge the Mini products to meet the needs of the customers. He said that he did not share the details of the downgrade but the company has shifted some types of vehicles to Mini because the riders value the product mostly having more convenience.
Cultus listed in Go category on the website of Uber and this website states that models, which can be eligible in this category and they should be air-conditioned sedans of 2001 model.
Students Suffer
The students are suffering more with the change in this policy and they drive Uber to earn for their family and also carry on their study. The company refused to confirm number of cars, which are working with them but the media report says that there are over 10,000 models of Cultus, which are registered with Uber all over Pakistan with over 3000 cars in Karachi alone.
