Karachi Worst City Driving

Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan and it is also commercial hub of the country. It is most populated city and it has been declared the worst city for driving the vehicle. This city is called the city of lights but majority of the population is living without proper light and they suffer prolonged load shedding. The global survey firm of Germany conducted the survey and they prepared the list of the 100 worst cities in terms of driving the vehicles and Karachi is at the 99th position of total 100 worst cities for driving.
The worst city for driving the vehicle is Kolkata, India. The traffic jams in these cities prolonged for many hours and it is their routine matter. The parking facilities are rare o r not available in the densely populated areas of these cities. Most of the people drive their vehicles without license o r they drive the vehicle on the wrong side and the main roads and the services roads are encroached heavily and the condition of the roads are also not up to the global standard. Most of the roads in the small areas are in worst condition and these issues make the driving of the vehicles difficult and people face problems, who live in Karachi o r visit this city once in their life time.
The issues of air pollution, water pollution, public transport and availability of proper infrastructure in the form of overpasses, underpasses and pedestrian bridges and the discipline of the traffic rules are common and these issues need serious uplifting and concentration of the higher authorities.
The study revealed various factors like public transport options, congestion levels, average cost of parking, average speeds, cost of fuel, accidents and fatalities, level of air pollution, road quality and the frequency o r perception of road rage. Sometimes the temporary constructions works are also done on the roads and they caused traffic delay. The global firm kept these factors in their mind to research for 100 cities of the world and they calculated the final score.
There is another independent survey conducted and they ranked Karachi among ten worst cities of the world. In another survey, Karachi is ranked as the worst city in the Urban development. The surveys of these different firms defame Karachi o r Pakistan but they showed the hard realities and these problems should be addressed and these should be worked out at the earliest. The survey groups also exposed that Karachi is the cheapest city of the world and it indicated the surveys are unbiased and they should be considered as tool to get the critical assessment of the affairs. The authorities, government, political stakeholders and people of the city should think about the city, which is considered Mini Pakistan and it is also the main contributor of revenue to national exchequer.
Karachi has its own Karachi Circular Railway but there is not considerable development in it and the projects of public transport like Green Line bus project and orange line are also being prepared but at the snail pace. The federal government and provincial governments also announced their packages to develop the infrastructure of the city but there is no development on sustainable basis.
The prime minister of Pakistan declared the package of Rs.25 billion for Karachi and Chief Minister of Sindh haw also announced a package of Rs.12 billion separately for the development of the infrastructure of the city.
