Lahore Police Introduces Easy Way To get Driving License

Lahore Traffic Police introduces a very easy procedure for obtaining computerized driving license. According to Chief Traffic Officer CTO Lahore Capt retd Hamad Abid, the police have developed an upgraded system for citizens. While speaking to media, the CTO said that the new system would speed up the process. He said:

“This will eliminate long queues for hours to get o r renew a driver’s license,”
“We have three centers in Lahore. One is in Manawan, the other is in Arafa Karim Tower, while the third is in DHA Lahore”. He added that the police, with the help of PITB, have upgraded the DHA center, and now the whole process has been digitized.

The process of obtaining a computerized driving license:

Lahore Traffic Police has divided the entire licensing process into two stages.

Phase I

The candidate will receive a token number.
He / she will bring his / her photo for the license taken at the center.
In the final stage of the first phase, the applicant will take a computerized multiple choice and theoretical test.

Phase II

The applicant will take a road driving test.

After passing the test, the candidate gets his new driving license.
If the applicant fails the test, he can retake the test after 42 days.
According to the CTO, the test used to be manual and rigorous, but now the police have made it much easier for more people to get their licenses. "Applicants will only have to get 50% marks in the computerized test," he said.
In addition, officials say the test will end the "VIP culture" as there will be no line o r wait. Also, the computer will give the numbers on merit, and no one can change the result, therefore, a transparent system.
The newly introduced system is being appreciated by the public, saying it will now be easier to get a driver's license. In short, a great move by the Lahore Traffic Police.
